Karnataka Minister Sparks Controversy, Likens Ram Mandir to Pulwama Attack as Political Stunts

Sudhakar expressed scepticism about the Centre's intentions behind showcasing the Lord Ram's temple project.

In a recent press statement, Karnataka Minister D Sudhakar has stirred controversy by drawing parallels between the construction of the Ram Mandir and the Pulwama attack, suggesting that both were mere political manoeuvres aimed at influencing voters ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Expressing scepticism about the government's intentions behind highlighting the Ram Mandir project, Sudhakar implied that it might be a calculated tactic to divert attention and polarize voters. He stated, "These are all mere stunts. First, they showed Pulwama, and now they're displaying Lord Ram's photo. People aren't naive. We were deceived twice, and I trust we won't be deceived a third time."

The minister acknowledged the widespread contributions made by individuals, including financial donations and symbolic offerings of bricks, for the construction of the Ram Mandir. He emphasized the universal reverence for Lord Rama, asserting that distinctions should not be made in matters of faith.

"We all contributed money for the construction of the Lord Ram temple. I made donations, Raghuram contributed, and we even donated bricks. Lord Rama is revered by all; we can't make distinctions there," Sudhakar said.

He went on to allege that such endeavours were attempts to influence voters under the guise of spirituality, drawing parallels with previous elections where the Pulwama attack was purportedly exploited for political gains. Sudhakar questioned the impact of such strategies on the lives lost in the aftermath of the Pulwama attack.

"Last time, they used Pulwama to sway voters. People were influenced, believing they would safeguard the nation. But how many lives were lost last time?" questioned Sudhakar.

The minister's comments have sparked a heated debate, with opinions divided on whether the comparison between the Ram Mandir project and the Pulwama attack is justified or if it reflects a cynical perspective on matters of national and religious significance. The controversy adds a new dimension to the ongoing discourse surrounding the intersection of politics, religion, and public sentiment in the lead-up to the elections.
