(WitWave) - In a recent development, the Karnataka High Court has issued a notice instructing authorities not to take any coercive action against RSS leader Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat until the next hearing. This decision was made by a vacation bench of the High Court, led by Justice Rajesh Rai. Bhat, who was booked under various IPC provisions earlier this month in Srirangapatna, asserted that the case was politically motivated, and his counsel successfully argued for the restraining order.
Earlier, Bhat had secured bail before the III Additional Sessions and District Judge in Mandya, citing health reasons related to a cardiovascular surgery he underwent in 2022.
The legal action against Bhat stemmed from a speech delivered at a Hindu Jagrana Vedike event on December 24, commemorating Hanuman Jayanthi. Allegedly, Bhat made several remarks during the event, including references to the husbands of Muslim women and a statement claiming the Modi Government had provided them with "permanent husbands."
The complaint leading to Bhat's booking was filed by local activist Nahma Nazeer, citing various sections of the IPC, such as outraging modesty of a woman, obscene acts and songs, insulting a woman's modesty, criminal intimidation, promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, and injuring or defiling a place of worship with intent to insult the religion of any class.
As the legal proceedings unfold, the case has garnered attention due to its political undertones and the allegations against Bhat. The court's decision to temporarily halt coercive action adds another layer to the ongoing legal saga surrounding the RSS leader.
